Coach Ross – Kids & Gi Coach
Coach Ross brings a no-nonsense, pressure-based approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, focused on discipline, consistency, and real skill development. His coaching philosophy is built around hard work, attention to detail, and earning progress, not shortcuts.
With a background in martial arts, including karate, kickboxing, and boxing, Ross values fundamentals, timing, and composure under pressure. His experience across striking and grappling shapes a practical, well-rounded understanding of combat, with plans to further sharpen his striking skills following recovery from a serious knee injury.
Before jiu-jitsu, Ross played rugby union and league at county district level, developing the physical resilience, work ethic, and mental toughness that now define his approach on the mats. Years immersed in strength & conditioning and high-intensity training influence how he develops athletes, building bodies and minds capable of sustained effort.
As a coach, Ross focuses on forging strong habits and strong character. Sessions are structured, demanding, and purposeful, with an emphasis on accountability, composure, and growth under pressure. He takes pride in helping students, especially children - become confident, disciplined, and resilient individuals both on and off the mats.
